Brescia, land of wines

Learn more >

King Edward VII once said: “One not only drinks the wine, one smells it, observes it, tastes it, sips it and-one talks about it.”

This approach to wine as a multisensory experience is perfectly reflected in the variety of food&wine offerings of our province, where wine is responsible not only for delicious moments and enhanced flavors, but also for the beauty of gathering together and enjoying dozens of activities offered by wineries and associations. Discover our region from this unusual, surprising point of view.

Franciacorta DOCG, from Brescia to the conquest of the world

The place of honour among Brescia’s wines is reserved to Franciacorta DOCG, obtained with classic method and double fermentation from grapes rigorously picked by hand.
Three types are available: Franciacorta, Franciacorta Satèn and Franciacorta Rosé. This wine can be enjoyed throughout the meal and is perfect for any occasions, as aperitif or paired with meat, fish, or dessert. It is exported all over the world.

Consorzio Franciacorta is the body protecting the wine, with 120 winery members. Read more about Strada del Franciacorta!

Wine tourism on Lake Garda

Moving to Lake Garda, we find over 100 businesses between wineries, hotels, agritourisms, restaurants, oil mills, and farms that are constantly dedicated to producing true delicacies. Among these are Lake Garda extra virgin olive oil DOP, local meats and cheeses, lake fish, lemons, and prestigious wines such as Lugana DOC and Valtènesi wines.

Flavours and aromas from the city

The long-standing wine-making tradition of the land between the city and Montenetto, stretching south-east towards the plain, has produced renowned wines like Capriano del Colle DOC, Botticino DOC, and IGT “Ronchi di Brescia”. The entity promoting this production is Strada del Vino Colli dei Longobardi, which is also in charge of Pusterla vineyard, the largest urban vineyard in Europe at the foot of Brescia’s castle.

Camonica Valley and its wine-making tradition

Camonica Valley’s IGT wines are gaining more and more favour and popularity thanks to a thorough effort to re-establish abandoned vineyards and plant new vines. Camonica Valley wines are an excellent pairing to the best local dishes and an extraordinary example of mountain production. They are in high demand also outside the province.
